Garage Floor Epoxy, Installed by a Crew That Only Does Coatings
Bakersfield, Kern County and the towns around it
A garage floor coating is only as good as the prep underneath it. That is the part you never see, and it is the part we do not rush.
Husky Coatings installs epoxy, polyaspartic and polyurea garage flooring across Bakersfield and Kern County. Coatings are the only thing we do — we are not a general contractor fitting a floor in between other trades. Every slab is opened up with diamond grinding first so the coating bonds into the concrete instead of sitting on top of it, and every job is walked with you before we call it finished.
You can walk on your new floor in 24 hours and park on it in 48. It is backed for 10 years to lifetime depending on the system, covering peeling, chipping and delamination — and the exact term is confirmed in writing with your quote, before any work starts.

I hired Husky Coatings to surface-coat my garage and my back yard patio. From the quotation experience through job completion, the Husky Coatings team of Aaron, Luke, and Austin did an impeccable job. "Attention to detail" would be my main take-away.

Luke and Aaron's communication was great. After our consultation, we knew this team was the best for the job. We have a three car garage and we're happy with the results. The process was simple, fast and clean. There was no need for us to get other quotes from other companies.

Our Garage Floor Coating Installation
Five steps, one day, the same on every job
No two garage floors start in the same condition, but the process does not change. We can do a garage floor in as little as one day — you can walk on the floor 24 hours later and park on it after 48. Here is exactly what happens on your slab.
1. Prep. We diamond grind the slab to open the concrete so the coating can bond. Dust is controlled as we work.
2. Repairs. Cracks, pits and low spots are filled and leveled before anything is coated.
3. Basecoat. Where the slab needs one, a moisture barrier goes down first — on a garage that is judged floor by floor rather than done as standard. Then the basecoat, with flake broadcast into it while it is still wet, or left out if you want a solid color.
4. Sealer. A sealer locks the system in. The system we build garages on holds its color in the sun instead of yellowing off. If you want the toughest surface we offer, there is an optional urethane topcoat — the hardest of our finishes to stain and the hardest to scratch. Everything we install is industrial grade; this one is a step beyond that.
5. Walkthrough. We walk the finished floor with you before we leave. Walk on it in 24 hours, park on it in 48.
What Affects the Cost of a Garage Floor Coating
We do not publish prices, because a number on a web page is wrong for almost everyone who reads it. Here is what actually moves the figure on your quote:
- Square footage. A single-car garage and a three-car garage are different jobs.
- The condition of the slab. Cracks, pitting, old paint or a previous coating all add prep time.
- The finish. Flake, solid color and metallic are three different jobs, and the optional urethane topcoat adds to it.
- Moisture in the slab. Some slabs need a moisture barrier and the one next door does not.
Garage flooring is quoted per floor, and which of those factors matters most genuinely varies from job to job. Aaron measures on site, usually in 30 to 45 minutes, and you get a written quote to the penny. Financing is available if you would rather pay over time, and our FAQ answers the questions that come up most before a quote.
Same Garage. Same Day Crew.
Three Bakersfield garages we coated — the slab on the left, the finished flake floor on the right. No staging, no stock photos.

Ninety Percent Of A Coating Is What Happens First.
A coating only lasts if the slab underneath it is right. This is the part most quotes skip — and the part we photograph.

Garage Floor Paint vs. an Epoxy Coating
Why garage flooring from the paint aisle struggles in Kern County
Most people start by looking at garage floor paint. It is the quickest way to change how a floor looks, and in a Bakersfield garage it is usually the shortest-lived.
Floor paint is a thin film that sits on the surface. It goes down over a cleaned slab with no mechanical prep, which is exactly why it lifts — hot tires pull at it in summer, and once anything gets under an edge it takes the rest with it. Concrete floor paint in an uninsulated garage here is working against slab temperatures most of those products were never meant for.
An epoxy garage floor coating is a bonded system rather than a film. The slab is ground open first so the coating keys into the concrete, and the layers cure into one another instead of stacking. That is the difference between a floor you repaint every few years and a floor you just clean.
It is also why hot tire pickup — the classic way a painted garage floor fails in a Bakersfield summer, where the tires lift the coating straight off the slab — is not something we have had come back on a Husky floor.
Already tried painting your garage floor? Not a problem — the old coating comes off as part of prep.

Four of the nine flake colors in the Husky Signature Collection
Flake is broadcast into the basecoat while it is still wet, so the color and the texture become part of the floor rather than a layer sitting on it. Solid color and metallic finishes are available as well.
The flake also leaves texture underfoot instead of a slick sheet of gloss. Where you want more slip resistance than that — a garage that doubles as a gym, or a floor that gets wet — we can add a grit additive.
We recently finished a garage floor in Tehachapi in California Grey. See all nine on our color chart, or browse finished floors in the gallery.
