A coating fixes the slab you already have. The Professional Pool Deck Coating Process
Prep Is What the Finish Is Built On
Every pool deck goes through the same three stages. Nothing gets skipped, and the prep is the part that decides how the finished deck holds up.
Prep and repair the pool deck. We clean the slab down to bare concrete, repair cracks and damage, and diamond grind the surface so the coating bonds into it rather than sitting on top. This is the step the whole finish depends on.
Moisture barrier and basecoat. A moisture barrier goes down first — standard on every pool deck, because the slab is exposed and holds damp from underneath. The basecoat is polyaspartic, which is what holds its color in the sun instead of yellowing off. While it is still wet we broadcast flake across the whole surface, which is what gives the deck its texture underfoot as well as its color.
Seal, cure and walk it with you. A sealer locks the system in. If you want the toughest surface we offer, there is an optional urethane topcoat — it is the hardest of our finishes to stain and the hardest to scratch. Everything we install is industrial grade; this one is a step beyond that. We walk the finished deck with you before we leave.

What a Pool Deck Coating Changes
Grip, Color and a Surface That Cleans Up
The point of a pool deck coating is not decoration. It is a slab that stops deteriorating and starts being usable again.
Grip when wet. The full flake broadcast leaves a textured surface rather than a smooth one, which is what matters most around water.
Chlorine and salt water. Both are hard on bare concrete — salt especially, which pits and corrodes the surface over time. The topcoat is the barrier between the two.
Sun. The basecoat holds its color in a surface that sits in direct sun from May through October.
Color. Nine flake colors in the Signature Collection — Creekbed, Orbit, California Grey, Nightfall, Domino, Lunar, Grizzly, Outback and Shoreline.
Cleaning. A sealed surface rinses off. Sunscreen, leaves and pool chemicals sit on top of the coating instead of soaking into the slab.
